Why Horror Art Still Matters
Horror artwork has always been about more than simply making something scary.
The best horror art creates questions.
What's happening here?
Who is that creature?
Where is this place?
Why is that person screaming?
And perhaps most importantly:
What happened five minutes before this picture was taken?
That's the magic.
A good horror painting gives you just enough information to start constructing your own nightmare.
Movies eventually show you what happens.
A painting often doesn't.
It leaves the rest to your imagination.
And your imagination can be considerably more horrifying than anything Hollywood can put on screen.
