Why Horror Fans Should Appreciate It
Horror fans are already accustomed to finding entertainment in the macabre.
We watch monsters tear people apart.
We enjoy practical effects.
We appreciate gruesome makeup.
We laugh at outrageous deaths.
And we understand that sometimes the most effective way to deal with something terrifying is to make it funny.
“Blood on the Risers” belongs in that tradition.
It is essentially folk horror without the supernatural.
There are no ghosts.
No demons.
No haunted houses.
No ancient curses.
Just a young man, a parachute, a mistake and several thousand feet of very unforgiving air.
And somehow, generations later, people are still singing about it.
