Its enormous player base, constant updates, crossovers and passionate community have transformed what could have been a short-lived multiplayer experiment into a game that has survived an entire decade.
And now the game is entering its second decade with millions of players already familiar with the sound of a heartbeat getting louder behind them.
That's impressive.
Really impressive.
Because horror games are usually built around the idea of survival.
Dead by Daylight has somehow managed to survive itself.
For ten years.
And if Behaviour Interactive is right about the game potentially having another decade ahead of it, we may eventually reach the point where Dead by Daylight is old enough to become the horror equivalent of a classic rock band.
Except instead of playing guitar solos, everyone is running away from a chainsaw.
And somewhere in The Fog, someone is still saying:
