From Sam and Krampus to Godzilla
After conquering Halloween and Christmas, Dougherty moved on to something slightly larger.
Godzilla.
Because apparently Sam and Krampus weren't big enough monsters.
Dougherty co-wrote and directed Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019 and later received story credit on Godzilla vs. Kong. His career also includes screenwriting credits on X2: X-Men United and Superman Returns.
It's actually a surprisingly logical progression.
Dougherty has always understood monsters.
Whether it's a tiny Halloween creature hiding beneath a burlap sack, an ancient Christmas demon, or a giant radioactive lizard, he knows how to make monsters feel like characters, rather than simply special effects.
