5. The Basement
The basement isn't a room.
It's a death trap with plumbing.
Every horror movie basement contains at least three of the following:
- A flickering light
- A mysterious noise
- A broken furnace
- An ancient box
- A creepy doll
- A dead animal
- A secret passage
- Something breathing
- Something that absolutely should not be breathing
And despite all this, characters routinely descend into it carrying nothing but a flashlight with the battery life of a cheap birthday candle.
