A horror movie character needs help.
They grab the phone.
No signal.
They try again.
Still nothing.
They walk outside.
One bar.
They take a step.
No bars.
They climb onto a roof.
One bar.
They whisper:
"Please work."
Phone:
Emergency calls only.
The invention of the smartphone was supposed to make this trope obsolete.
Horror movies simply responded:
"Fine. We'll destroy the Wi-Fi."
