Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers does exactly what the title promises: Michael Myers is back, and he's once again stalking the streets of Haddonfield. After sitting out the previous installment, the Shape returns with his sights set on his young niece, Jamie Lloyd.
The movie does a great job recapturing the atmosphere of the original while giving Michael a more imposing presence. Danielle Harris is excellent as Jamie, delivering a surprisingly strong performance, while Donald Pleasence returns as the always-intense Dr. Loomis. The film also features some memorable chase sequences, creative kills, and a terrific finale that makes excellent use of the darkness and Halloween setting.
Verdict: A fun, atmospheric return to Haddonfield that successfully gets the Michael Myers formula back on track. Halloween 4 may not surpass the original, but it's one of the franchise's most entertaining sequels. ★★★★☆
